Join us at the Center for Performance Research (CPR) September 5-7 for Mix Tape: an evening of complete and in-progress works that showcases the breadth of Mich-Mash’s work. The company strives to examine the human experience through the lens of dance, resulting in works whose flavors range from theatrical to experimental. To bring these artistic visions to life, the company works collectively to generate choreography, collaborates regularly with artists in other mediums, and integrates projected multimedia into the final presentation. The end result is technologically-augmented dance theater.
“The Asymptote to Zero Gravity” employs a movement vocabulary that fights the laws of physics as the dancers walk on the walls and strive to defy gravity.
“Perchance to Dream” is about finding inner peace and the integration of the self. Incorporating traditional Chinese water sleeves, theatrical narrative, and extremely physical partnering, this piece shows how the parts of ourselves that we view as negative can in fact help us reach for and attain the positive.
“Café Cellulaire” is a theatrical work that uses cell phone etiquette to explore gender norms and social dynamics. A couple sits at a restaurant for dinner. One person’s cell phone rings. The other wants them to get off the phone. Chaos ensues.
