The Asymptote to Zero Gravity is an incredibly physical work that showcases a movement vocabulary which fights the laws of physics. Beginning with the question “how can we walk on the walls?” Heal and her dancers worked collaboratively to develop phrasework that moves horizontally, vertically, and in mid-air – everywhere but the ground.
The sections explore different theorems from mathematics and physics as an excerpt from the program to the right delineates.
The original work-in-progress was created in collaboration with Josh Alverson, Margaret Allen, Kathy Gordon, Katie Murphy, Elizabeth Odell, Katie Vaught. This work is currently being revised by Evan Adler, Jordan Aragon, Alyssa Caliendo, Neva Cockrell, and Owen Taylor.
